Announcing an announcement: Guild Wars 2 Date Confirmed
Fresh off the back of yesterday’s brief stress test, ArenaNet have finally announced a release date and I’m here to announce that announcement. Surprisingly falling at the tail-end of August, we won’t have to wait quite as long as anticipated.
Following on from my beta 1 preview, the second event showed a marked improvement in both client performance, and the legibility of combat in general. Battles were less frantic button mashing and more careful consideration than previously, perhaps down to my experience, but the pace feels like it’s been adjusted for the better.
Anyway, the official day of slow-motion leaping gnomes and enormous cannons is 28th August 2012. Check out trailer below if you don’t believe me, although I assure you, I’m remarkably trustworthy.
Mike O’Brien confirmed development’s in the final stages.
Now that we’re just two months away from launch, we’ll spend our remaining time optimizing, polishing, and balancing the game, to ensure that we provide you with the best launch-day experience we possibly can.
To this end, I’m excited to announce that our next and final Beta Weekend Event is planned for July 20-22.
I’ll have an updated preview for you if anything significant changes between now and August.

This is all well and good but how many Pandas does the game have?
I believe there is the option to make a black and white Charr
Seen a black and white Charr in the stress test during the week. Looks more like a bipedal cow. Terrifying in a way.
Dont worry Heinmarr, the rare and elusive Norcasaurus will be around!
