Beta Weekend 2: The Sequel
The strictly sincere confirmation for the next Guild Wars 2 beta weekend has just materialised in my inbox in no less than three different languages. How refined.
Beta weekend 2 (or 3 for those of us counting) goes live Friday, June 8, at noon PDT (6pm BST) and ends Sunday, June 10, at 11:59 p.m. PDT (Monday, June 11, 5:59am BST). Participants of previous tests will be pleased to learn their characters can pick up where they left off, a welcome change to beta testing veterans. For the truly hardcore there is even a new dungeon to explore:
…characters level 35 or higher will be able to test their mettle against the explorable version of the Ascalonian Catacombs dungeon!
While the version I tested back in April was extremely promising, it did demonstrate some pretty basic flaws. How difficult it was to play with friends was perhaps the biggest surprise. Fear not gentle beta tester, because ArenaNet have taken your feedback to heart.
We have listened intently to all of your feedback from our first Beta Weekend Event, and we’ve made great strides toward resolving many of the issues you’ve helped us identify.
These include party movement into overflow servers, chat functionality, key bindings, server stability, performance, and many more that we will detail in the near future.
On the back of Blizzard’s trademark communication blackout, it’s refreshing to see such positive community management.
The bad news is we have to wait a whole week to get our grubby mits on it. In the meantime make sure your client is patched and ready to go, and check out our preview from the first event.
